| FREEDOM INNOVATIONS SELECTS SOUTHERN PROSTHETIC SUPPLY TO BRING AMPUTEES NEW LEVELS OF FREEDOM WITH ARTIFICIAL FEET |
| |
CORONA, Calif. (January 22, 2003) - Freedom Innovations has signed a multi-million dollar distribution agreement authorizing Southern Prosthetic Supply (SPS) to bring the new Freedom Series of artificial feet to amputees and prosthetists throughout the United States and Canada. This is a major agreement for the Corona, California-based prosthetics company that just debuted in October 2002.
"We're pleased to be working with SPS to sell this exciting new line of products. Our combined resources will help us reach more amputees, allowing us to provide them with increased freedom of motion and activity -- comfortably -- at affordable prices," Richard N. Myers, President and Chief Operating Officer, said. In making the announcement, Myers indicated that, as part of the agreement with SPS, Freedom Innovations can continue providing factory-direct sales within the territory.
Introduced at the AOPA (American Orthotics and Prosthetics Association) National Assembly in Chicago, Illinois, Freedom Innovations unveiled the Freedom Series of three new prosthetic feet - the FS 1000, FS2000 and FS3000 models -- resulting in "exceptionally positive feedback and immediate sales," Myers said.
"We designed these premier products to fill a void faced by practitioners and amputees for years - the lack of extremely high quality, robust feet for every activity, at affordable prices. The Freedom Series of prosthetic feet fills that void," he explained.
"Amputees are often forced to use one prosthesis for normal, everyday ambulation and another for more strenuous or athletic activity," Myers said. "We created the Freedom Series so prosthetists can fit amputees with a comfortable artificial limb that is dynamic enough and strong enough to withstand high levels of activity."
Utilizing patented and patent-pending technology, Dr. Roland Christensen, Chief Executive Officer of Freedom Innovations, brought his 17 years of expertise manufacturing another performance carbon-fiber foot to the ultimate test by raising the bar on the O&P industry's definition of a quality prosthetic foot.
Previous artificial feet with a unitary foot and toe platform were incapable of independent flexion of the toe and ankle because of the heel attachment to the forefoot section or rigid bonding mechanisms. "Almost all of the past designs on the market have focused only on ankle or heel-to-toe movement," explained Christensen. "Few designs considered the integral workings of the toes and the less conspicuous movements of the foot and ankle combined."
The unique attachment of the full-length sole plate at the anterior toe lever ensures no loss of energy in rolling through the gait cycle and a "soft toe" assist in push-off. The entire lengths of the forefoot and ankle member, as well as the full-length sole plate, are split to maximize agility, medial-lateral bending, inversion-aversion and rotation. The unique "angle-top" design allows interchangeability with other performance feet, while providing a true shock-absorbing action as opposed to vertical dampening.
As a testimony to the quality, resiliency and workmanship enveloped in the Freedom Series, each foot is shipped with a 36-month warranty - the longest available in the industry on feet and composite components. Moreover, each foot is shipped with a "no-questions" return policy and a 60-day trial period. Meeting the time demands of O&P practitioners, the Freedom Series is available with same-day and overnight shipping, upon request.
Three models are available: FS1000 - unitary foot design with the "angle-top" increases energy storage and return due to the longer sole plate design. FS2000 - a lower profile foot for long BK applications or as an alternative when considering prosthetic configuration options demanding more clearance. FS3000 - is an appropriate choice for low to moderately active amputees with longer residual limbs.
"Clinicians who attended the Chicago meeting and saw, first-hand, the remarkable quality and unique design of these products, have already jumped on the Freedom trail," said Ron May, president of SPS. "SPS is thrilled to represent a company of tremendous dedication to amputees everywhere and who possess the wherewithal to design and manufacture outstanding quality from the get-go!"
