| IRVINE, Calif. (Jan. 1, 2006) - Maynard Carkhuff , President and Chief Operating Officer of Freedom Innovations, announced today that John Thomson has been hired as a Regional Sales Manager, effective immediately. With more than a decade of experience in medical sales and as an amputee himself, Thomson brings impressive skills and an intimate knowledge of prosthetics to his new role, where he will manage and execute Freedom's sales efforts throughout the state of Florida .
Diagnosed with bone cancer in 1996 Thomson underwent a bone transplant and five years of additional surgeries. After a severe bone infection his leg was amputated below the knee in 2001. Since Thomson's amputation he has resumed an active lifestyle and enjoys running, cycling, and surfing, winning the prosthetics division of the Florida State Championship for Surfing in 2003.
"Being an amputee gives John an added advantage as a sales expert due to his personal knowledge of the product needs of patients," Carkhuff stated. "He will be a terrific asset to Freedom's continually growing senior level sales team, helping us to better tailor our sales and product development efforts to meet the needs of our customers."

Before joining Freedom Innovations, Thomson served as the Southeast Regional Laboratory Manager for Cardinal Healthcare, where he engaged the company's sales team through leadership and training to grow lab sales. Prior to Cardinal Healthcare he was a Territory Manager for Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories. From 1997 to 1998 Thomson honed his skills as a Sales Representative at Dura Pharmaceuticals. He began his career as a successful Sales Representative for Physician Sales and Service.
Thomson received his Bachelor's degree from Florida State University and his Masters from Nova Southeastern University . He currently resides in Tampa , Florida with his two children.
